Moblyze, the Scottish-founded AI-powered recruitment platform for the energy sector, has secured a major funding boost of nearly $1.9 million (£1.5 million) to accelerate its global expansion and transform how skilled workers connect with opportunities in oil, gas, and renewables.
Dubbed the “Skyscanner of energy recruitment,” Moblyze is designed to streamline the hiring process for both employers and candidates, matching skilled professionals with roles in seconds and offering upskilling pathways to help workers transition between traditional and emerging energy sectors. The platform is supported by government agencies in both Texas and Scotland, reflecting its international ambitions and recognition of the need for modern recruitment solutions in a rapidly evolving industry.
Chris Black, co-owner of JAB Recruitment and one of the leaders behind Moblyze, commented on the significance of the investment:
“For decades, the energy sector has relied on outdated recruitment systems—some quite literally conceived in the last century. While the industry works to solve today’s complex challenges, the way we connect talent to opportunity has remained stuck in the past. With our deep industry expertise and the backing of key investors, we’ve built a platform that reimagines recruitment for the energy workforce, both today and in the future. The transition ahead can feel uncertain, but Moblyze is designed to offer stability—helping workers and employers navigate an increasingly diverse mix of fuel sources in their energy projects.”
The funding comes from a mix of private and public sources, including backing from Shane Corstorphine, former CFO of travel marketplace unicorn Skyscanner, and entrepreneur Garreth Wood of the Wood Plc family. Moblyze has also received support from the McKinney Economic Development Corporation in Texas and Scottish Enterprise, highlighting its cross-Atlantic reach.
Shane Corstorphine, an investor in Moblyze, said:
“I was presented with a vision that was both compelling and urgently needed. The energy sector is at a turning point, but recruitment has lagged behind. Moblyze delivers a long-overdue solution—leveraging technology to instantly connect skilled professionals with the right opportunities. This isn’t just an investment in an energy-tech business; it’s a bold step toward modernising and future-proofing the global energy workforce.”
The latest funding round, which included an initial $700,000 raised on the concept alone and a further $1.2 million for global rollout, will enable Moblyze to scale its operations, enhance its technology, and expand its reach in key energy markets. The app is already live and available on major app stores, with thousands of users and growing interest from employers and jobseekers alike.
Moblyze’s approach—combining AI-powered job matching, real-time job tracking, and upskilling support—aims to ensure that energy workers are not left behind as the sector transitions toward a more diverse and sustainable future.
