Leading cybersecurity professionals and business leaders will gather at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen on February 26, 2025 for an exclusive Cyber Scotland event, hosted by TechForce Cyber in partnership with Arctic Wolf and Robert Gordon University.

The event, titled Protect, Detect, Respond: Strengthening Scotland’s Cyber Defences, aims to explore real-world cyber threats, share expert insights, and discuss proactive strategies to enhance cybersecurity resilience across Scottish businesses.

The state of Cybersecurity in Scotland

Cybersecurity has become a growing priority for businesses across Scotland, with cyber threats continuing to evolve at an unprecedented rate. Recent high-profile breaches have highlighted the urgent need for companies to strengthen their defences, improve incident response, and build long-term resilience.

Scotland has been taking strides to become a leader in cybersecurity innovation and digital resilience, but many businesses—particularly SMEs—still struggle with the increasing complexity of cyber threats. This event is an opportunity for professionals across industries to hear from leading cybersecurity experts and gain a deeper understanding of the latest cyber risks, attack methods, and effective defence strategies.

Bringing industry leaders together

Building on the success of previous Cyber Scotland events, TechForce Cyber, Arctic Wolf, and Robert Gordon University have collaborated to bring together some of the industry’s most respected voices to discuss how organisations can protect themselves against the most pressing cyber risks today.

Jai Aenugu, founder and chief executive officer of TechForce Cyber, commented on the event’s significance: “Cybersecurity isn’t just an IT problem—it’s a business issue that affects everyone. We’ve seen companies across Scotland face serious disruptions due to cyber attacks, and too many businesses still believe they are not a target. This event is about creating awareness, sharing knowledge, and helping organisations build real-world resilience. We’re bringing together a fantastic line-up of experts to discuss practical strategies that businesses of all sizes can apply to protect themselves.”

The Aberdeen Cyber Scotland event will feature a range of expert speakers, each providing unique perspectives on cybersecurity challenges and solutions. Among them is Brian Stewart, senior sales engineer at Arctic Wolf, who will provide insights on threat detection, incident response, and the evolving cybersecurity landscape.

Brian Stewart commented: “Organisations need to shift from a technology-based reactive mindset to a proactive operational mindset. Attackers are constantly evolving and businesses must stay ahead by investing in not just ongoing security monitoring, but also in embarking on a proactive security journey to improve Cybersecurity posture and in having a clear incident response strategy. Events like these are crucial in helping businesses understand what’s at stake and how they can build stronger defences.”

Also joining the speaker line-up is Dr. Hatem Ahriz, senior lecturer at Robert Gordon University, who will discuss the role of education and collaboration in strengthening Scotland’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

Dr. Hatem Ahriz added: “Cybersecurity is a collective effort. Education, industry collaboration, and knowledge-sharing play a critical role in protecting businesses and individuals from ever-growing cyber threats. We’re proud to host this event at Robert Gordon University as part of our commitment to supporting Scotland’s cybersecurity ecosystem.”

Key topics and discussions

The event’s agenda will focus on real-world case studies, best practices, and actionable strategies for businesses looking to strengthen their cybersecurity posture. One of the highlights will be an in-depth analysis of one of Scotland’s most publicly known cyber breaches in 2024, examining what happened, how it unfolded, and the lessons businesses can learn from it.

Other key discussions will include:

  • The current cyber threat landscape in Scotland and beyond
  • Best practices for threat detection, incident response, and resilience
  • Why cybersecurity is no longer optional but a business necessity

The event will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to engage directly with cybersecurity experts and gain practical advice tailored to their industry and business challenges.
